If you think that rhubarb is a boring vegetable, think again. If you are looking for a recipe for rhubarb, here are some of the things you can do at home:

Recipe For Rhubarb
  • Usually, rhubarb can be used for desserts. If you have children in the house, incorporating a recipe for rhubarb in the menu is a good way to introduce the vegetable to your kids. Since children are very reluctant in eating vegetables compared to fruits, you can easily mix this vegetable with other fruits such as strawberries, apples and cherries to make it easy for the little ones to enjoy this vegetable. You can also make this vegetable into a jam and incorporate this with muffins, pies and sandwiches.
  • If you want to make a simple, yet delicious cake, you can try this no-frills recipe for rhubarb. You will need the following to make this cake: 2 cups sugar, 1 egg, 1 cup buttermilk, a teaspoon of vanilla, 3/4 cup of margarine, 1 tsp. of baking soda, 1/4 tsp. of salt, a teaspoon of cinnamon, a teaspoon of nutmeg. You will also need 2 1/2 cups of floor and 2 1/2 cups of chopped rhubarb. To be able to make the topping of the cake, you will need: 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1/3 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts, and 1/3 cup of brown sugar. Combine all ingredients (except for the toppings) in a bowl and then put it into a greased and floured pan. Usually, a 9"x13" pan will do the trick. As soon as you have placed the mix into the bowl, that is when you put the ingredients for the toppings. Bake the cake at 350 degrees for around 45 minutes.
  • As soon as you are done with the cake, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a while. Then it's up to you if you want to combine other ingredients on the cake. Some would put icing and some chopped strawberries to provide a more interesting finish to the cake. Serve it with tea or brewed coffee.
  • Another recipe for rhubarb that you can use (if you don't want to make sweets), you can use meat to bring out the flavor of the vegetable. You can use slices of pork, fry it until golden brown and set it aside first. Use honey and heat it in a saucepan, then you will have to put the sliced rhubarb in. As soon as the mixture comes to boil, remove the saucepan from the stove and add a dash of salt and pepper. Pour the sauce onto the pork and enjoy. You can also do this recipe for rhubarb on chicken and beef.
